NaPoWriMo #24: Thank You

I cannot grasp this.
It has grasped me
But I cannot grasp this,
Or don’t want to.
I don’t want to
But I cannot avoid it.

I last saw You over two years ago.
I only really knew You for two years
But You changed me;
You made me better.
I am richer to have known you.
This planet is richer
That You were in it.
This earth is richer.
Every time I read Heaney, Plath, Clarke, Priestley,
Every time I see a cat asleep by a fire,
Every time I cram 300 words onto a postcard,
Every time I am trapped in a storm,
Every time I realise
Where I started to change my mind
About teachers,
I will remember You.
Sleep tight.
